Heather Gray is Vice President and General Manager of WRAL-TV (NBC), WRAZ/FOX 50 (FOX) in Raleigh, WILM (IND) in Wilmington, and WRAL.com’s digital platforms for Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC). She leads unified operations across broadcast, digital, and emerging media, overseeing sales, programming, audience engagement, and community partnerships.

A seasoned media executive with more than 30 years of experience, Heather joined CBC in 2017 and has held several senior leadership roles, including Creative Services Director, Brand Director, and Station Manager. She was appointed Vice President and General Manager following a successful tenure as Interim General Manager.

Prior to CBC, Heather held leadership positions at 12 News/KPNX (NBC) in Phoenix, where she led marketing and programming initiatives and helped launch the station’s digital brand and one of its first integrated social media news teams. Her earlier career includes newsroom and leadership roles at First Coast News (NBC/ABC) in Jacksonville; KCRA-TV (NBC) and Good Day Sacramento (WB/Paramount) in Sacramento; and KHSL-TV (CBS) in Chico, California.

Heather’s expertise spans local journalism, marketing, audience growth, and community engagement. She serves on the boards of United Arts of Wake County, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and the Local Media Association, and previously served as national chair of the NBC Station Marketing Council.

Recognized for her strategic leadership and commitment to local journalism, Heather has been instrumental in expanding WRAL’s presence across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms while strengthening relationships with advertisers and community organizations.

A seven-time regional Emmy Award winner and national PROMAX Gold recipient, Heather is passionate about the role of local media in informing and serving communities.

She leads numerous community initiatives for CBC, including the long-running Coats for the Children campaign with the Salvation Army, the annual televised MLK Prayer Breakfast, the high school quiz show Brain Game, and WRAL’s productions of the Raleigh Christmas Parade and Durham Holiday Parade. Her team also produces the Golden Years television event benefiting local seniors and supports major community efforts such as WRAL’s First Night Raleigh and the Triangle Komen Race for the Cure.

Heather graduated with honors from California State University, Chico, with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Media Arts and minors in English and Women’s Studies. She lives in Cary, North Carolina, with her husband, has two adult children, and one very devoted dog. Her interests include travel, hiking, reading, and exploring roadside historical markers.
